A film just as good as its soundtrack: Marcel Camus' Black Orpheus.

Once again Stephen Goldmeier is joining us because we like having him. Or anyone for that matter, care to join sometime?

This week we're talking about Marcel Camus' beautiful and vibrant Black Orpheus. The 1959 film introduced bossa nova to the US and Europe with the soundtrack selling millions of copies. Last month Arcade Fire introduced a new generation of music lovers to the film when they released a preview of their new album Reflektor as an alternative soundtrack to a cut of Camus' classic. While that seems to have disappeared from the internet, their video for the song Afterlife is a shorter version of the same concept. Renewed interest in the film is great, since it's pretty much amazing. Listen to us gush about it and to Pat forget his own name in this week's Lost in Criterion.
