This week we're talking about Bertrand Travernier's Coup de Torchon, the story of a put-upon cop who decides to get rid of his problems. A police officer who can't seem to actually enforce the law but does manage to kill a lot of people? Good thing this is fiction.
Anyway, Coup de Torchon is an adaptation of Jim Thompson's novel Pop. 1280, but moves the action from rural Texas to the wild west of French Colonial Africa, another area where the inherent racism in the society is just set dressing.
Anyway, give us a listen?
