Apparently there's only one Jamaican film in the Criterion Collection.

At least they picked a pretty good one. Also, I'm only assuming there's other Jamaican films? I assume there have to be. There can't not be. But there's only one in the collection and we're talking about it this week on Lost in Criterion.

Perry Henzell's 1972 Jamaican gangster film The Harder They Come stars Jimmy Cliff in what is a tale of a folk hero coming out of poverty under a corrupt government. A lot like American films and tales of the Depression in that regard (thing Bonnie and Clyde) but with a much better soundtrack.
