I continue to not understand The Element of Crime.

Unless I view Lars von Trier's 1984 full-length debut as ridiculous, a satire of noir without being overt parody, a distillation of the genre's most recognizable traits into a thick and murky stew of too much rain, monochrome, and stilted dialog. Pat loved it though! Perhaps for those reasons and perhaps for more legitimate ones. As such, Pat takes the lead in this week's discussion, or at least the lead in defense of the film. It's a bit of a rare treat. Give it a listen?
