Lost in Criterion and I guess this is some sort of anti-imperialism thing?

Of course it is!

Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger's Black Narcissus (1947) is a statement against continued ruling of India. A statement they basically frame as the classic noble savage "it's too different for us, they should be left alone" argument that is really degrading even as it seeks positive ends. Movie's beautiful though. Not quite what they would reach next with The Red Shoes, but still...just great.
