The Firemen's Ball was Milos Forman's last film before getting out of Czechoslovakia and setting sail for less Communist waters. It is, as Milos vehemently denies, a satire on the politics of the time. Or not. Maybe he is right. He made some interesting choices if he wasn't trying to make that film. He made an interesting film in any case. Hilarious, to boot.
