Equally as brilliant and depressing!
Apparently, all you need to do to get me to really love a movie is show me poor children. Killing them helps. I don't know how to feel about this realization. Ratcatcher, Lynne Ramsay's 1999 debut feature, tells such a tale in poverty stricken 1970's Glasgow, during a garbage strike to boot. Still even with all the child death going on there's some fun moments. Find your light where you can, and listen to this week's Lost in Criterion.
