The most pretentious credit a director has ever given himself? Maybe.
Well earned, though? Probably.
We're back with Godard for Band of Outsiders, a rather influential little film the prolific director made in 1964, the middle of an especially prolific period for him. It (as well asUne Femme Mariee which is not in the Collection currently) was released sandwiched between the two Godard films we've seen already: Contempt and Alphaville. Those two particular films established quite the dichotomy of how we here at Lost in Criterion feel about Godard films. See where Band of Outsiders lands on that sliding scale on this week's episode.
