Orson Welles's F for Fake reminds us that fake news exist because we incentivize it's existence. There's a market for it. There's money in it. And when enough people want something to be true it doesn't matter if it is or not.

And it's not just fake news. It's fake experts. It's fakes raised to the level of oracle for saying palatable lies. It's not just WorldNewsDailyReport.com, it's also, say, JD Vance.
