The rarest of rarities in the Criterion Collection: a coming of age tale about a sexually active teenage girl -- directed by a Frenchman no less! -- that doesn't make us feel like we need to shower. Pialat’s directing style has a bit in common with John Cassavetes, the film is largely improvised in the same way as Cassavetes’s greats. But his vision is his own, and we’re grateful for that given what such a film could be.
We’re surprised at an actually ok presentation of teenage sexuality on this week’s Lost in Criterion with A nos amours. Listen at LostInCriterion.com, on iTunes or Spotify, or wherever you like to find podcasts. and while you're at it, like us on Facebook or support us on Patreon.
