Hitchcock makes it to America. Flounders a bit?

I'm not saying Rebecca is a bad movie. I'm saying the first hour is a bad movie. Once things actually happen it's rather ok, if sexist, and the number off non-sexist Alfred Hitchcock films approaches zero. From 1940, this is Hitchcock's first film in America made under contract with David O. Selznick. We'll be watching a few more of his early American works in the coming weeks, but for now check out Rebecca on this week's Lost in Criterion.
